During the high pressure die casting process, aluminum casting is prone to internal defects such as porosity, shrinkage cavity, gas holes and etc. After machining, the surface dense layer of these defective castings is removed and the internal defects are exposed. For auto cast aluminum parts with high sealing requirements, such as cylinder block, cylinder head, intake manifold, brake valve, etc., during the pressure seal test, the existence of microporous defects will lead to the leakage of sealing medium and cause a large amount of waste. Normally these defects are often detected in the the pressure testing after machining, serious waste of working hours, raw materials and energy will be resulted.   

In order to solve the problem of high scrap rate of automobile cast aluminum parts and save the cast aluminum parts that may be scrapped due to the above defects, certain treatment measures should be taken in production, that is Infiltration. Under certain conditions the infiltration agent is infiltrated into the micro-pores of cast aluminum parts. After solidification, the filling material in the infiltration pores is connected with the inner wall of the pores of the castings, so that the parts can meet the conditions of pressurization, anti-seepage and anti-leakage.

 

The micro-pores of the casting parts can be permanently sealed; at the same time they can can withstand high pressure under which the casting part will burst. So the cast aluminum parts after Infiltration can be used in hydraulic and gas systems, for example automobile and tractor gearboxes, fuel pumps, hydraulic valves, carburetors, cylinders, compressors and hydraulic components, airtight flight instruments and electronic instrument cover, pneumatic parts and various pneumatic instruments.

 

Infiltration can be used as a remedy for the defects of casting, such as porosity and micro-pores, which often exist in die castings. It also promotes the thin-walled design and lightness of casting products. The most important thing is saving the consumption of materials.
