In fact, if you don't work in the foundry industry, if you're not familiar with casting products, surely you can't tell the differences between casting, forging and stamping. Simply speaking, casting is a process changing liquid metal into solid metal with shapes; forging is a process transforming the solid metal from one kind of shape to another; stamping is one process for punching out parts using sheet metal, stainless steel sheet or copper sheet.

So there's another problem, how should we choose from the casting, forging and stamping process? First of all, let us look at their different processing properties.

1. Casting

Image that you are playing with wax now. You buy the wax and melt it into liquid. Then put it into a cast mould, after drying you will get a solid wax pattern with the mould shape. Different moulds make different products. When it comes to die casting, it means injecting the liquid metal into mould to produce diecast parts. It is a once-through formation.

2. Forging

It likes making a pancake. After kneading a small dough you put it into the mold to make a different shape. Forging is a plastic formation in the solid state with hot working and cold working. Forging is a gradual formation.

3. Stamping

Stamping is a solid object that is punched out with a punch and can only be shaped as a simple product.

The difference between die casting, forging and stamping:

A. Die casting is the natural shaping of the raw material into the forming mold.

B. Forging is to heat the raw material to a certain temperature and then use the tool to forge.

C. Stamping is the process of stamping material with suitable stamping die.

D. Die casting is the use of pressure to inject the melted material into the die casting mold, on the casting basis, to give a higher density or more precise shape.

Die casting is one way of high temperature casting. When the structure is complicated and there is much difficulty to be made, the die-casting machine can be used to heat the metal into liquid state, press into the mold, and then open the mold to get a finished part after cooling.

Sieg-Huao is a professional China die casting process supplier, has more than 10 years manufacturing experience, our die casting and investment casting parts are widely used in many industries such as automotive vehicle, communication electronics, tools hardware, power fitting, mechanical equipment and so on.
