For zinc alloy die casting parts there are usually several different treatment processes which include grit blasting, shot blasting and sand blasting. They have similar functions but still have some differences between them.
Difference between the grit blasting and shot blasting of zinc alloy die casting
Grit blasting is powered by high pressure or compressed air. Shot blasting means high-speed rotation of the flywheel eject the steel shot out in very high speed. Shot blasting has high efficiency but there will be dead angles. Grit blasting is more flexible, but will consume larger power.
Although these two processes differ in jet power and manner, they have a same aim that is to impact zinc alloy die casting parts in high speed and a similar effect.
The selection of two processes mainly depends on the shape and machining efficiency of zinc die casting. Grit blasting is fine, easy to control precision, but not as efficient as shot blasting, which is suitable for small castings with complicated shape. Shot blasting is economical and practical, easy to control efficiency and cost. It can control the particle size of pellets to control the injection effect, but there will be dead Angle, which is suitable for single casting batch processing.
Difference between the Grit blasting and Sand blasting of zinc alloy die casting
Both shot blasting and sand blasting use high pressure wind or compressed air, as the power to blow out the surface of the work piece to achieve cleaning effect, but the choice of medium is different and the effect is different. The casting surface shows its dark metal color and after sand blasting because of no metallic luster.
Difference between the Sand blasting and Grit blasting of zinc alloy die casting
After sand blasting, the oxide scale on the surface of the zinc alloy die casting is cleared away, but the casting surface is not damaged, and excess energy generated during processing can cause surface strengthening of the casting substrate.
After grit blasting, the die casting surface also shows metal color, but due to the spherical surface, the light part is reflected off, so the final casting surface presents a matte effect.
