As is well known, magnesium is an active metal element which can lead to accidents and even major disasters if any careless handling. Therefore, people engaged in the production and manufacturing of magnesium alloys must have a clear understanding of it. Today we are going to talk about what should be paid attention to in the process of machining and grinding magnesium alloy die casting.
Strict rules must be observed in processing magnesium alloys. Magnesium alloys should never be processed on the equipment that processes other metals without establishing safety measures. The following requirements must be observed in the processing and treatment of magnesium alloy scrap:
1. It is forbidden to smoke.
2. Keep cutting edge sharp and have enough cutting angles.
3. Use large supplies to produce thicker debris.
4. Eliminate the source of combustion of debris.
5. Keep the processing site clean to avoid accumulating too much debris.
6. Maintain adequate extinguishing agents (dry sand, cast iron chips, type D fire extinguishers).
7. Special inhibitive water/oil emulsifying agents are used to reduce hydrogen production and ensure adequate supply of emulsifiers.
8. The processing room must be well ventilated.
9. Place wet debris in well-ventilated steel drums away from machining and die-casting sites.
Magnesium powder produced by grinding is easy to burn. Fire prevention and explosion prevention measures must be taken seriously for related equipment and operation. The following regulations must be observed in the grinding process of magnesium alloys:
1. Never burn, cut, or weld in the grinding area.
2. Maintain adequate extinguishing agents (dry sand, cast iron chips, type D fire extinguishers).
3. Grinding equipment for magnesium alloys only.
4. Make sure the ventilation works properly before grinding to remove the accumulated hydrogen.
5. Ensure adequate maintenance and cleaning of the wet dust collection system.
6. The electrical equipment at the site may not be affected by the explosion and is properly connected to ground.
7. Do not use a vacuum cleaner to collect magnesium powder unless specifically indicated as applicable to magnesium powder.
8. Work clothes should be fireproof and have no pockets.
9. No somking.
